Christian Lovera Piña - Professional Profile

As the Chief Executive Officer of Investment Banking at BancTrust & Co., financial expert Christian Lovera focuses on debt distressed securities in Central and South America. Additionally, Mr. Lovera supervises the overall business plan for BancTrust and sits on the company’s board. During his six-year tenure at the firm, Christian Lovera has started a new capital markets division which deals with debt restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate finance. His client base includes individuals, governments, corporations, and other prestigious financial institutions. As one of the key executives at BancTrust, Mr. Lovera created BT Energy and Commodities and redistributed billions of dollars in illiquid assets. He currently advises on the multibillion-dollar mandate of liability for the Venezuelan government and the $350 million Zumaque Fund, a project finance fund he established.

Before joining BancTrust in 2005, Christian Lovera worked for eight years with the large brokerage firm Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Inc., a Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., subsidiary. At his office in Miami, he maintained numerous client accounts with an estimated value of over $35 million.

Christian Lovera received his dual degree in Economics and Finance from Potsdam, New York's Clarkson University. Prior to attending Clarkson, he studied at the Valley Forge Military Academy & College, a boarding school in Wayne, Pennsylvania.
